Dramatic Coloratura Jina Oh whose voice is praised as having a 'Butter-soft Voice' by the newspaper Rheinpfalz in 2014 after her concert of Mahler's great symphony cantata "The Song of Earth.” Jina’s singing career began at her alma mater Seoul National University. Jina Oh then went on to continue her study at the Musikhochschule in Cologne Germany under the academic guidance of Prof. Henner Leyhe where she earned her master's degree. In 2015 with the prize of Johannes Gutenberg she graduated her Konzertexamen with the highest honor of summa cum laude from the Musikhochschule Mainz where she studied with Prof. Thomas Dewald.
Although Jina Oh already made her debut with the role of “ Queen of the Night” in Mozart's opera "The Magic Flute" in the Dae-Jeon Theater in South Korea in 2006, it was the season 2013/2014 that she got the chance to sing the title role in Handel's "Rinaldo" in Mainz, Germany under the direction of Tatjana Gürbaca and under the baton of Herman Bäumer. And she successfully completed the change from soprano to mezzosoprano. The Frankfurter Rundschau newspaper praised south korean soprano Jina Oh’s Rinaldo performance as Outstanding. A reporter from the frankfurter Rundschau noted “Jina’s voice range is extremely large with a great deal of dramatic potential upon seeing her performance is evident she clearly sang her lines.”
In 2014, Jina Oh won 1st place at the Meistersinger competition in Neustadt and was also the award winner of the DAAD Prize at Johannes Gutenberg University Mainz. In 2016 she won the special award “President of Jury Katia Ricciarelli” at the A Ruoli D'Opera International Singing Competition in San Pellegrino,Italy. Jina Oh would then continue her success by being awarded third place at the international singing competition "Trofeo La Fenice" in Seravezza, Italy. In addition to her great achievements she was also a finalist in the International Singing Competition Ravello in Ravello, Italy and Andrea Chenier in Foggia, Italy.
From 2013 to 2015 she was a member of the Junges Ensemble at the Staatstheater Mainz where she has sung in Wagner's "Meistersinger von Nürnberg", Ravel's "L'Enfant et les Sortilèges" (concertante), the audiotheater "Aus der Tiefe" and Mendelssohn's Concerto "Midsummer Night's Dream". Since 2015, she has sung Rosina, Cenerentola, Despina, Amadigi, Ramiro, Romeo, Marguerite, Flamminia (Haydn’s “Il mondo della luna), Tigrinda(Vivaldi’s “Orlando finto pazzo”) in various opera productions in Mainz, Aachen, Rudolstadt, Glankenburg, Rheinsberg and Seoul.
Jina Oh as a oratorio singer has performed in numerous renowned orchestras and ensembles such as; the Philharmonic State Orchestra Mainz, the German State Philharmonic Orchestra Rhineland-Palatinate, the State Orchestra of Braunschweig, Neumeyer Consort, Camerata Antiqua, the Prime Philharmonic Orchestra and Korean Symphony Orchestra. She has done numerous Bach Cantatas and "St. John's Passion", "Mess in B minor", Händel's "Messiah", Mozart's "Mass in C Minor", Beethoven's "Symphony No. 9" and Mendelssohn's oratorios "Elijah", “Paul “ and participated in a plethora of other amazing performances.
